On the first day of our travels west, we met Sylvia Jones in Crossville, Tennessee. We took her some iris plants from Trula and Emily Qualls' Hollyberry Farm and she gave us some tasty home-grown berries. Our next stop was in Paducah, Kentucky where we ate at The Whaler's Catch which met its claim to provide a taste of New Orleans. Maybe I should have taken a photo of my delicious seafood salad (as Kristen Garland likes to do). Instead here is part of the city's floodwall that protects historic downtown Paducah from the Ohio and Tennessse Rivers overflowing their banks. The floodwall is three city blocks of painted murals that capture important moments in Paducah's history. Yes, that's an open doorway which provides a unique view of the Ohio River.

We plan on being in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri tonight.
